It is with great sadness that with the passing of Queen Elizabeth II the Chelmsford Councillors, pay tribute to the longest reigning monarch in the history of our country.

As head of the Commonwealth of Nations and Head of State for 14 other nations, she touched the lives of people across the world and was one of the most famous and admired people on earth.

For most of us Queen Elizabeth II is the only sovereign we have ever known. She diligently served our country through war, peace and huge changes in society and a revolution in technology and communications.

For 70 years Queen Elizabeth II dedicated herself to the service of this country and has been a constant in our lives and a unifying force. An inspiration, much loved and respected, she will be greatly missed.

Our condolences, thoughts and prayers are with her family at this difficult time.
