As of March 2025, Chelmsford residents are being charged for brown bin collections because the Lib Dems cannot control their spending.

Under the Chelmsford Conservatives, brown bin collections were free. Chelmsford Lib Dems are unable to manage the finances and are resorting to stealth taxes on Chelmsford’s residents to make up the shortfall.

The council’s annual financial review for 2024/25 has identified a £4 million budget gap for the coming financial year and forecasts a total shortfall of £13 million over the next five years.
